Quebec studio 10th Ave Prod. will present its new animated feature 'The Bravest of All,' about a trio of plucky puffins, at TIFF Market.
This week, Quebec City-based 10th Ave Productions and Attraction Distribution head to the Toronto International Film Festival’s inaugural market, where they will present a first look at the studio’s seventh animated feature, The Bravest of All.
This new 100% Canadian-made animated feature once again shines a spotlight on the animal and plant life of the majestic Saint Lawrence River, as did 10th Ave’s previous hit, Katak the Brave Beluga.
The Bravest of All centers on the seabirds of the Mingan Archipelago. The film is described as a grand multigenerational adventure story in which three bird colonies must come together when winged raiders attack, seeking to seize Parrot Island and the puffin chicks who live on the island.
“There are some really loveable characters in The Bravest of All, including Papidou, the grandpa who’s in the early stages of dementia; Pearl, who’s trying to extricate herself from the consequences of a lie; and Froggy, a deliciously comical character who makes every possible effort to talk some sense into Coldheart, the leader of the gulls,” said 10th Ave’s producer, Nancy Florence Savard.
Based on an original idea by Andrée Lambert (Katak the Brave Beluga), with a screenplay by Emilie Rosas (Lydia and the Mist Rider), The Bravest of All is currently in production under the guidance of directors Rosas and Philippe Arseneau Bussières, while producers Savard and Ginette Poulin handle executive producer duties.
For the first time, the entire production is being undertaken by 10th Ave Animation, under the leadership of producer Jean-François Tremblay. The studio was primarily responsible for animating the feature films Felix and the Treasure of Morgäa and Lydia and the Mist Rider.
Animation work on The Bravest of All is expected to wrap in spring 2027, followed by post-production over the summer. This stage of the process will bring together music composer Jean-François Racine (Lydia and the Mist Rider), editor René Caron of Studio Élément and sound designer Jérôme Boiteau of Studio Expression.
The Bravest of All will be distributed in Canada by Maison 4:3, which will oversee the film’s release for domestic audiences, while Attraction Distribution will be handling representation on international markets.
